Field Hockey Canada is thrilled to unveil the roster for the upcoming Indoor Pan American Cup, where the Canadian Indoor Women’s National Team is set to shine on home soil in Calgary, Alberta.

Scheduled from March 19-22, 2024, at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex & Jim Starlight Centre, the tournament promises to be a riveting showcase of talent, with Canada fielding a formidable squad comprising 10 field players, 2 goalkeepers, and four reserves.

In preparation for this prestigious event, the team embarked on a training tour to Prague in February, where they squared off against top club programs and the Czech National team in international test matches. Head coach Shankar Premakanthan emphasized the importance of the Prague tour, highlighting its role in integrating new athletes into the team environment and providing invaluable international exposure.

The roster boasts a blend of seasoned veterans, including Alison Lee, Kat Leahy, and Emily Ziraldo, who contributed to the success of the 2023 Indoor World Cup campaign, alongside promising newcomers such as Rebecca Carvalho and Olivia Friedberg.

A special highlight is the inclusion of Calgary native Cam McGillivray, who will have the honor of representing her hometown in front of a supportive crowd of friends and family.

Premakanthan expressed his pride in the growth of the Canadian program over the past decade, noting the team’s evolution into a quality international side. With a wealth of talent at every position, the team is poised to take on any challenger in Calgary.

Field Hockey Canada is excited to collaborate with the Pan American Hockey Federation and Field Hockey Alberta to host the event, which promises not only thrilling matches but also serves as a catalyst for inspiring the next generation of field hockey enthusiasts across Alberta and Canada.

The top finishing team in the Women’s division will secure a coveted spot in the 2025 Indoor World Cup, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.
