Surrey Warriors III Chase Down Target to Defeat Surrey United IV in Season Opener at Newton East

The 2025 BCMCL Fifth Division season got underway with a spirited contest at East Newton Athletic Park, where Surrey Warriors III claimed a five-wicket victory over Surrey United IV in the first match of the regular season. Surrey United IV won the toss and opted to bat first but faced early setbacks, losing three wickets for just 13 runs. Despite a brief middle-order resistance led by Prem Kanwal Grover (30) and Harkirtan Gill (29), and a quick 23-run contribution from Gurcharan Singh, they were bowled out for 132 in 38.5 overs. Hitesh Suman led the bowling charge for Surrey Warriors III with a standout performance of 3 for 13 from 8.5 overs, while Muhsin Khan and Harsukhdeep Sekhon took two wickets each.

In response, Surrey Warriors III began their chase with aggression but also lost two early wickets, finding themselves at 25 for 2. However, a patient and composed innings by Sidhant Tiwari (57* off 104 balls) anchored the chase. Supporting cameos from Amritpal Singh (16), Avneet Singh (19), and Davinderjit Heer (15) helped maintain momentum.
